The votes have been counted, the wait is over and Cheshire West and Chester Shadow Council can finally reveal its ‘£500’ new logo…
The below design is the work of Chris Hughes, an employee of Chester City Council, and seemingly fulfilled the new local authority’s desire to obtain a brand that portrayed it as “dynamic, forward thinking, inspiring, professional, fresh and innovative.”
He said in a statement released by the authority: "I am thrilled to have designed the winning logo.
“In creating the logo I tried to illustrate the importance of the established icons of the councils that will form Cheshire West and Chester as well as convey a new unity."
Myles Hogg from the Cheshire West and Chester added: “It is a powerful logo built of the traditions of the area, that reflects the strength of Cheshire West and Chester in the region and nationally.
"All the elements of the logo have a relevance to Cheshire West and Chester.
“The lion is a common symbol in Cheshire, stemming from the mid 1500s and the wheat sheaf motif is carried on the crests of the councils that will form Cheshire West and Chester.
"The blue wave represents water and the importance of rivers in the new Council's area."
The logo will be widely seen in the region when the council comes into being on 1 April next year.
