McCann Erickson Communications House and PHD North will be handling the advertising and media planning for CrossCountry.
McCann won the account, believed to be worth 6 figures, following a 4-way pitch.
CrossCountry is owned by Arriva and runs one of the biggest networks in the UK including Aberdeen, Penzance, Stansted and Cardiff.
3 other companies pitched for the work, including the previous incumbent, Cogent Elliott.
PHD North retained their account, whiwch they've held since 2006, following a separate pitch."We are thrilled to continue working with CrossCountry trains," said Jason Spencer of PHD.
"In a challenging economic environment, we will be focussed on finding a better way to use media to deliver brand and revenue. CrossCountry trains are a dynamic brand in a growth sector. As such, we will look to capitalise on this opportunity through the way we use media." McCann will develop campaigns to increase brand awareness in CrossCountry and aid the company meet its financial and growth targets.
Hopefully one of them will be looking at CrossCountry’s online offering - we clicked on “vision” to see what these targets were and were faced with a blank page... The Cheshire (and soon to be Manchester)-based agency told us that this win is indeed one of the “significant” ones they promised in January. Something to add?
