Dulux Decorator Centres (DDC) is to embark on a major relaunch of its Decorator Centres and has appointed Tangerine PR to manage the trade and consumer brief. Six agencies pitched for the business.
Dulux’s HQ is in Slough but the Decorator Centres operation is run from Timperley south Manchester.
The company is keen to raise the profile of its national chain of stores and is targeting three key audiences: professional decorators, multi-skilled builders who include decorating in their armoury and enthusiastic DIY-ers.
Beverley Whitehead, head of PR and marketing communications at DDC said: “The company has been using Lloyd Northover for five years and was happy but I joined a year ago and decided we could do with some fresh ideas and initiatives. We’re planning a number of key activities over the course of this year and wanted an agency alongside that shared our objectives and enthusiasm.”
Six agencies were asked to pitch for the business including Oxford based Lloyd Northover.
The others were the Manchester offices of Euro RSG Biss Lancaster and Weber Shandwick, Haslimann Taylor of Birmingham and CIB of London.
Whitehead said Tangerine was chosen because of its “evident experience in both trade and consumer PR.”
The six figure contract runs for one year initially but Whitehead expects, all being well, the contract to be renewed in due course.
