Liverpool city council has short listed five marketing agencies to handle the next stage of its branding and local/national awareness campaign. Marketing manager Alison Duckworth would not however disclose who the agencies were.
The European Capital of Culture 2008 initiative has been on the wrong end of media coverage for much of this year and the council is keen to ensure the appointment covers ‘as many bases as possible’.
The broad brief that was issued to prospective agencies covered a wide variety of objectives, ranging from outdoor dressing (signs and banners) and promotion of the programme of events to considering the best ways of maximising subsequent visitor awareness of Liverpool as a tourist, cultural and convention destination after the 08 celebrations have finished.
The announcement of the winning agency is expected in the next few days.
