Fudge wins major communications project with the Soho Action Plan
Marketing communications company Fudge has won a contract with Westminster city council to help develop a communication campaign addressing residents, businesses and stakeholders in Soho as part of the council’s new Soho Action Plan to revamp the world famous district.

The Plan has been devised by the Council together with the Soho Contact Group, and aims to deliver over 60 economic and social initiatives including the regeneration of Berwick Street, Ham Yard and Windmill Street, alongside other projects that will improve community facilities and support small independent businesses and enhance the creative industries in the area.

Fudge, based in Bolton, was invited to tender for the work in competition with a number of other communication agencies across the UK and Cristina Dunn in Westminster’s media department told How-Do that: “Having received all the proposals, we simply felt that Fudge provided the best plan.”

The first project in the campaign will the production of a 50 page document outlining all the aims and objectives of the Plan which will be distributed to all interested parties.

David Eccles of Fudge said: “This latest appointment follows our recent success working with local agencies in the Bolton area communicating the local government’s health action plan to the local communities. We are really looking forward to helping Westminster council deliver its plans effectively to the range of different audiences.”

One of the key audiences will be the creative industries for which Soho has long been a magnet for media, TV, film and advertising. Westminster council claims that it is home to the largest concentration of creative industries in the country, employing more than 64,000 people and generating a turnover of almost £15 billion.

The creative industries are viewed as crucial in helping to enhance London’s “buzz” and also have a positive effect on other sectors including tourism and leisure.

Danny Chalkley, Cabinet Member for economic development at Westminster said: “Soho is a great part of London with a remarkable past, but it needs a sustainable future.

“We want to encourage those businesses that don’t ignore the needs of residents. The action plan will also improve the local environment and amenities for the benefit of everyone who comes to Soho.”
