Manchester’s Fuse SPORT has been hired by York Races to promote this year’s Ebor Festival with a number of Pride of Yorkshire events.
500 white Yorkshire roses will be given away to race goers and Ian McMillan has been specially commissioned to write a poem for the festival.
Day at the races Let's just hope these proud Yorkshiremen don’t realise that events have been organised from t’other side of the Pennines. "The Ebor Festival has historically been the highlight of the racing season at York, and this year we wanted to help give it extra regional flavour with some Yorkshire-themed events," said Fuse SPORT director Mark Dixon: "We’re delighted that Ian McMillan – the Bard of Barnsley - is joining in the celebrations." The festival starts this week with a charity North v South football match between jockeys to raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund, it echoes a previous game which kicked off the proceedings in the 1920s.
