Bryan Robson has taken on sports marketing agency Fuse SPORT to help secure sponsorship for his plans to launch a series of community football academies across the UK.
Robson and FUSE's Ben Howarth The Sheffield United manager has teamed up with Burscough FC chairman Chris Lloyd to set up a new company, Robson Lloyd, with the ambition of establishing academies that are linked to non-league football clubs. The hope is that these will be a catalyst for the re-development of the clubs and their surrounding communities, securing the future of football at a grassroots level. Each ‘community academy’ will be managed by UEFA ‘A’ licensed football coaches and will offer educational facilities aimed at building children’s awareness of their health through diet, sport and lifestyle teaching. The development of the firm's flagship club, Lloyd’s own Burscough FC, will be completed by late 2008, by which time £4.3m will have been spent on new state of the art facilities, including an entire new stadium. Commenting on what Fuse could bring to the party, Robson said: “We’ve enlisted the expert help of Fuse SPORT to help us identify potential sponsors who may wish to endorse a truly innovative venture which will benefit local communities as well as leaving a lasting football legacy for generations of kids.” www.fuse-sport.com Something to add?
