Zig Zag, the second biggest selling cigarette paper brand in the UK, has acquired the French brand Job and has appointed Manchester design agency Glorious to manage its above and below the line advertising, as it competes in Imperial-dominated territory.
Zig Zag is owned by father and son, Jim and Andrew Armstrong and is based in Manchester. They acquired the UK licence in 1997 and have overseen the brand’s rise overtaking Swan to become number two to Rizla.
Andrew Armstrong said he was equally optimistic about Job, which was founded 80 year sago.
“It’s a great brand, with excellent opportunities and it already has national distribution.”
Job has not previously used an English agency.
Glorious Creative was appointed without a pitch. “Glorious have really got into the Job brand and they know what we’re about. Job has an amazing heritage with excellent potential. We are very excited by the plans and the creative ideas they’ve come up so far” said Armstrong.
Scott McCubbin of Glorious told How-Do that the agency hasn’t yet decided which media agency it is planning to partner. www.gloriouscreative.co.uk
