Hughes departs Astra Zeneca to head up Media 1

Maggie Hughes, the former conference and exhibition manager for global marketing at Astra Zeneca has joined Media 1 to head up a new division at the company providing dedicated services to the pharmaceutical industry and to companies requiring international event management.

Media 1 is based in Bollington Cheshire. The company was established in 1999 and claims a turnover in excess of £1m.

The client base ranges from pharmaceutical and manufacturing to financial services, government and the motor industry. The bulk of the company’s activities/client services are overseas-based.

Steve Bindley, a director of Media 1 said: “We produce over 30 conferences a year in the UK and worldwide and our clients would prefer to deal with one specialist service provider.

"This new Division is not only a natural progression for us as a company but provides our clients with exactly we feel they want. Maggie’s exacting standards and attention to detail fits our business ethos.”
