The Imperial War Museum North has revealed to How-Do that it has appointed six agencies to handle its design, print and creative services needs for the next three years.

The museum's roster is effectively split into two teams of four agencies, with two firms appearing on both lists.

One cluster of agencies will be charged with handling 'promotional campaigns' for the attraction, while the other takes charge of 'information design'.

The teams are as follows:
Promotional campaigns
Hemisphere
Mark Studio
The King's Arms

Wonder Associates

Information Design
Epigram
Hemisphere
Modern Design
Wonder Associates

The chosen firms were picked from 29 initial agencies, which were then whittled down into a shortlist of nine.

Wonder Associates has also revealed to How-Do that it has been contracted on an exclusive two year agreement to create, design and print Imperial War Museum North's 'what's on' leaflet, called EVENT.

Claire Saville, the head of marketing and PR for the Imperial War Museum North, told How-Do that the final contracts for the agencies were now being drawn up and that she was "delighted with the list we have secured and look(ing) forward to working with them over the next 3 years."

29 agencies pitching and 6 agencies that will be doing all the work.

This must have been the biggest account to come on the open market for years. How much was spent on just the 29 pitches?

What was the total account worth £1m, £2M, more likely to be under £250K?
Can anyone who was unsuccessful confirm this for interest?

You can see the image....Great you hear that you have been appointed...champagne comes out......... and then you find that there are another 5 agencies with you...is this a record for Manchester??

Then you need to resolve another big issue with the work that is required, is it given out on a rotational basis, or are the 4 agencies in each sector then going into another creative and media buying pitch against each other to win each individual small project?

Somebody appears to have successfully got 6 agencies jumping through hoops - couldnt they make a decision on one?

If they all have the time and resources available for this account, then good luck and congratulations to all 6 of you on your win!

29 agencies is an incredible number of pitches, which sadly reflects on these 'desperate for business' times we live in. Perhaps it's time for some kind of polite rule to limited the numbers?

If you read it, and look at the previous article, it doesnt say 29 pitches, it says 29 expressed an interest, which were whittled down to 9.

Of course I realised 29 agencies were just expressing an interest, but they surely they all had to prepare some sort of a personalised document to make their impact...thats all time and money!

Then 9 full pitches...time and money!

Then all the re-pitches and creative ideas for every mini-pitch as it goes along in the year...more time and money

If the client has 12 projects a year...that's 3 jobs each if they all get a fair share...Wow

chuffin joke
