The late and much-loved comedian Everett and the rarely-mourned TV rodent Rat will be seen in the latest series of the popular BBC crime-solving, time-travelling spin off show Ashes to Ashes.
However, their appearances from beyond the graves (or gutter/bin, in Rat’s case) will be due to a show of nostalgic advertising, rather than the latest TV licence-busting CGI work.
The two, along with the Wombles, will take to the screens on a series of vintage Keep Britain Tidy posters that will help evoke the 80s setting of the popular show.
The reason this is appearing on How-Do (we figure some of you may well be asking ‘why’ by now, Ed) is that Altrincham-based Lake has re-created the posters for the show on behalf of long-standing client Keep Britain Tidy.
MD Barry Glinister explained his team’s involvement: “We’ve been working with the Keep Britain Tidy campaign for seven years and our latest work follows the 70s style posters we did for them that featured on Life on Mars.
“Taking original 80s social awareness posters we had to painstakingly render them and add our creative touch to give them an authentic feel.”
The show, and the posters, will be appearing on the BBC One next year.
(By the way, can anyone remember the name of the pictured Everett character? We could only come up with Cupid Stunt, Sid Snot and Gizzard Puke… and it’s none of them. Ed)
