The expression ‘you wait forever and then two come along at once’ seemingly applies to donut stores as well as public transport. And news of Manchester’s second Krispy Kreme store in quick succession will no doubt have MC2 licking their lips…

The Manchester-based PR agency handled the high-profile launch of the North West’s first KK outlet at Trafford Park in December.

On the back of the success of that (reportedly the US donut giant’s biggest opening day for one of its UK stores) Krispy Kreme is again looking to MC2 to co-ordinate launch activity for its new city centre ‘donut coffee bar.’

The new operation, which will be supplied with fresh donuts from the existing ‘hot light’ store at Trafford, will be housed in the City Tower building at Piccadilly Gardens.

Sweet contract for MC2
Although MC2’s detailed plan for the launch activity is still ‘in the oven’, so to speak, it is thought to combine a similar cross-channel approach to their Man Con fuelled assault of last year.

It is also believed, although not confirmed, that the agency now has an on-going arrangement with Krispy Kreme to plan general PR for the brand over the coming months.

Speaking about the new store, which opens at an unspecified point during Spring, Judith Denby, marketing director at Krispy Kreme, commented: “We’re really excited by the reception we received to our first Hotlight store in Manchester and look forward to delivering the Krispy Kreme experience in a convenient city centre location.

“Our Hot Light stores are a unique Krispy Kreme experience, showcasing our doughnut theatre, and our Trafford Park store is no exception.

“Our new city centre coffee bar will provide another, more convenient way for people living and working in Manchester centre to enjoy Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee.”
