Liverpool Culture Company confirms PR appointments | Print |  Email to a friend

The Liverpool Culture Company has confirmed that it has appointed Four Communications and Bolton & Quinn to provide PR support for the 08 calendar of celebrations. LD Communications will also be providing project-specific assistance.

A spokesperson for the LCC told How-Do that detailed briefs were still to be discussed with the main two teams, but that the appointments were finalized before the start of the New Year.

Despite the lack of the ‘detailed briefs’ it is expected that Four will now be handling national and international consumer and business media, while Bolton & Quinn will specifically look to promote the arts events taking place as part of the packed 08 programme.

“Between them,” the spokesperson commented, “they will cover lifestyle publications, trade press, listings magazines, business and travel, and specialist art media, along with support for specific artistic commissions when required.”

LD Communications provided support for the opening events of last weekend and will also head up the PR push for the Sir Paul McCartney-headlined Liverpool Sound concert in June.

Paul Newman, communications director of the Liverpool Culture Company, said of the need for PR agencies: “As we saw last weekend at the opening events, there is an enormous national and international media appetite for what European Capital of Culture is bringing to Liverpool.

“There are so many different stories to tell - whether cultural, economic, tourism or regeneration-related and we're delighted to have the expertise of agencies who work in specific areas.  They will help us to build on the success of the launch of 2008.”

It is rumoured that the fees for the support will exceed £100,000.

A raft of regional agencies were also in the running for the contracts, with Weber Shandwick and Bell Potinger North mentioned amongst the favourites.

The LCC spokesperson confirmed that there were now no other agencies involved in providing on-going support for the Capital of Culture project.
