Tuesday, 02 December 2008
The recently formed communications outfit at NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale has been acclaimed as the UK’s ‘outstanding team’ at this year’s National NHS Communications Awards.

Despite only forming in January this year, the team, lead by communications and marketing manager Zoe O’Neill, has made waves with high profile projects such as developing the PCT’s new website and corporate branding, producing a series of podcasts, and organising a visit from the Secretary of State.

The recently formed communications outfit at NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale has been acclaimed as the UK’s ‘outstanding team’ at this year’s National NHS Communications Awards.
This is in addition to developing campaigns for two borough-wide public consultations and planning the borough’s first joint health day with Rochdale Borough Council.

Nadine Powell, executive director of corporate affairs, said that the award reflected their hard work and “excellent results”, she added:

“NHS HMR strives to steer and lead the local health agenda in the borough and the communications team is pivotal in stimulating discussion on community health matters.

“Through their work, we demonstrate we are listening to the people of Rochdale, our partners and our staff.”

Alongside O’Neill the team is made up of communications officers Laura Baker and Sally Bruce, with Emma Cain as team secretary and strategic input from Chris Wright, head of corporate services.
