Manchester's SKV Communications is consolidating its relationship with VisitBlackpool after being appointed to handle the publicity brief for Showzam, the UK’s only festival dedicated to the worlds of circus, magic and new variety.
SKV has worked with the client on a number of high profile projects over the course of the last year - most notably the multi-award winning J'aime La Tour viral - and, according to account director Richard Bond, they are "thrilled" with this latest task.
The festival takes place at venues across the town from 12 to 21 February and is produced by the local tourist body.
It features a mix of free, family-friendly events and ticketed shows, including performances from theatre companies such as La Clique, Ockham’s Razor, La Machine and Spymonkey.
A dedicated space in the centre of Blackpool known as Showzam Central will act as the epicentre of proceedings, offering attractions such as an exhibition dedicated to the life of the legendary showman PT Barnum and Mark Copeland’s cult travelling Insect Circus.
Showzam’s director Claire Turner said of SKV's appointment: “We needed an agency that didn’t take a ‘one size fits all’ approach and could deliver PR across a variety of media with very distinct messages.”
Bond added: “The sheer diversity of the programme will require a highly creative yet pragmatic approach, but with our extensive experience in cultural and entertainment PR we are confident the campaign and festival will be a great success.”
