It’s sadly not a new South American centre forward, instead a two year deal with drinks giant Diageo.
They will become the club’s official spirits sponsor and in the Asia-Pacific the company will be their responsible drinking partner. Logo The Reds haven’t done a drinks tie in this way before, with the goal to highlight sensible drinking to the Asian market.
"We have 81 million fans in Asia and we look forward to working together to promote Smirnoff in Asia and strongly support the use of the sponsorship as a platform for responsible drinking," said chief executive David Gill.
James Thompson, marketing and innovation director for Diageo added: "We are encouraged by the opportunities that this breakthrough partnership will deliver for the Smirnoff brand and our consumers in Asia Pacific."
"The partnership will have immediate and sustainable appeal with our target audience and also provide Smirnoff with a unique platform to take the lead in promoting responsible drinking through targeted and engaging programmes."
