Manchester United is strengthening its ties in China with a new 5-year partnership with electronics brand aigo.
World stage Sir Bobby Charlton and commercial director Richard Arnold announced the deal today in Beijing. Aigo now holds exclusive global rights to promote itself and aigoMusic via Manchester United and produce and distribute co-branded cameras, multimedia players and storage devices. It can also produce and distribute co-branded mobile phone handsets in China. As part of the agreement, it will also become the official sponsor of Manchester United’s game in Hangzhou during the Red’s Asia Tour next month.
"This deal is a further demonstration of the global appeal of Manchester United. Aigo is a leader in its field and we are very excited about the possibilities that this partnership opens up,” said United chief executive David Gill. “The tour match will offer our fans in China their first chance to see the partnership in action." The club confirmed earlier this month that Aon Corp had signed a 4-year shirt sponsorship deal, worth in the region of £80m. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
