The Guest speaker was Alex Poots, Director of the Manchester International Festival.

The Awards are open to all design and creative agencies based in the North of England, but typically finalists are based in one of Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds or Newcastle.

The overall winner of Design Consultancy of the Year 2007 was Love Creative of Manchester. Dinosaur also of Manchester and Glorious Creative of Manchester and Liverpool were among the six other finalists.

There were also three specialist polls: financial, peer and client.

Three Manchester agencies were ranked in the financial category: Love (again), Dinosaur and MC2.

In the peer poll, three of the top ten were Manchester agencies: Love (yet again), The Chase (now owned by Hasgrove plc) and True North.

In the final category, chosen by client companies from across the North, five Manchester agencies were among the 10 finalists including the overall winner Reform Creative. The four other agencies were Lake, Dinosaur, Glorious Creative and….Love (inevitably).

The final accolade of the awards ceremony, the 2007 “One To Watch” was awarded to Mark Studio of Manchester.

Having been a judge in these more than once, I wouldn't take them too seriously, The peer pool is full of strategic voting, the financial poll is based on unverified financial data and the winners usually seem to be, bizarrely, those most inclined to advertise in the Drum. Maybe it's just a co-incidence. Maybe next year, to give them more veracity, it would be worthwhile an unbiased adjuticator took part in the process. And in the Roses. the results may well benefit in terms of credibility
