Manchester design consultancy, Mark Studio, which won a tender from Manchester city council earlier this year, to help develop an identity for the city’s growing events activities, has been awarded with a new project to promote a series of international sporting events which are taking place in the city in 2008.
The brief involves awareness raising regionally, nationally and internationally. The new campaign is expected to launch in August. Media, which will include bus sides and poster sites, is being bought by the council's in-house advertising team.
The six events are: the Uefa Cup Final, UCI Track Cycling World Championships, the Paralympics World Cup, the Hi-Tec World Squash Championship, the BUPA Manchester run and the Fina World Swimming Championships.
In addition to Mark’s overall brand identity for the new sports promotion, individual events will still be running their own complementary campaigns.
It is anticipated that some will be retaining existing suppliers while others, such as Fina which has appointed Dinosaur, may opt to use regional agencies to help support their specific Manchester event.
