Stuart Wilson, one of the co-founders (along with his brother Simon) and owner of Creative Lynx, one of the region’s leading design agencies, has sold the agency to a management team led by finance director Neil Martin and five of his colleagues.
The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. The MBO team was advised by Baker Tilly and funding was provided by the RBS. John Copping of the RBS said: “Neil and the management team have impressed us with their drive and future vision for the company.
“They have an excellent understanding of the sectors in which they operate and are well positioned to grow the business.”
Martin Creative Lynx employs over 40 staff at its offices in Manchester and Geneva.
The agency was recently ranked 68th in trade magazine Design Week’s annual listing of UK design groups. The agency was established in 1986 and claims turnover in excess of £3.5m. Agency clients include the United Nations, Manchester Business School and AstraZeneca.
Wilson will remain as non-exec chairman but will also be developing new projects of his own.
Neil Martin, now agency MD, added: “We’ve got a very strong management team behind this, some of whom have been with us since the very early days. Stuart has established a solid and respected business that we’re all proud of and confident in taking forwards. And with Stuart staying on as chairman, it’s pretty much business as usual.”
In a separate development, the agency has recruited Angela Milner as an account director within its newly created professional and financial services division whose clients include Banque Safdié and BNP Paribas.
Milner Milner has previously worked with clients including London Scottish Bank, CIS Insurance, Marks & Spencer Financial Services and Charles Schwab UK.
Speaking about Milner’s appointment Martin added: “We’ve been working in the professional and financial sector for many years and have been exploring opportunities to expand this business for us.
“Angela’s wealth of experience and approach to this market is perfect. It positions us to ideally serve the growing number of professional service businesses in Manchester and the wider region, which are still on the increase despite current economic conditions.” www.creativelynx.co.uk
