Prestbury’s McCann Erickson is celebrating what it claims to be one of the biggest wins for an agency outside London in recent times, with the news that it has scooped the £10m global brief, excluding media, for the Intercontinental Hotels Group business.
Speaking to How-Do, an enthused spokesperson for the 300-strong Bonis Hall-based team described the account as “an absolute whopper” and one of the most important regional pieces of new business for a long time.
The agency is set to begin working on the brief in August and will focus on the group’s core brands of Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
It will liaise with local agency resources in the specific markets, with a support team assisting from London.
In a statement released today by the client, William Morris, IHG’s senior vice president, sales & marketing said: “IHG has some of the World’s greatest hotel brands; the McCann Erickson team demonstrated a clear understanding of our brands – and offered strong creative execution that will help us deliver our aggressive targets for this year and beyond.”
McCann’s chief executive Sue Little added: “This win represents a major achievement for the agency and illustrates the scale and capability of the expertise available at Bonis Hall.
“I am delighted that we have been appointed to handle such a prestigious brief which represents a key addition to our growing international portfolio.
“IHG was looking for a truly integrated approach and the expertise we have at Bonis Hall is in a unique position to deliver against this requirement. “
