McCann Erickson has announced that it is opening a new business-to-business operation to take advantage of what it sees as “ever increasing opportunities” in the sector. The new outfit, named McCann Erickson Business, will be based at the agency’s Bonis Hall HQ.
McCanns – or McCann Erickson Communications House for the pernickety out there – already has established experience in the B2B realm through its work with software giant Sage, UPS, Brother Europe and its recent success with Businesslink North West. According to a statement it released yesterday this makes the development the next obvious step in its evolution as it looks to build on that experience and exploit its existing full service set up.The agency says it will offer specialist B2B planners, “one of the largest specialist data teams outside London” (who actually did a pretty good job with their Euro 08 predictions on How-Do), advertising and online creative, and PR and media expertise. McCann chief exec Sue Little said in the statement: “There are an ever increasing number of large organisations that want to sell their services and products to small and medium sized enterprises and this covers everything from telecoms and technology to office equipment and services. “As an agency we have built some unique insights into what motivates small and medium sized businesses when buying services from large corporates and we are aiming to harness this expertise and bring it to a wide range of B2B organisations across a broad range of sectors.” McCanns has enjoyed a purple patch of late, topped off by the huge £10m Continental win it enjoyed at the end of May.
