Retailer MFI has given McCanns’ PR division within Communications House in Prestbury its account on an initial interim basis which McCanns naturally hopes will extend into a longer term arrangement.
The PR business for MFI was previously divided between Bell Pottinger, Brunswick and Cargo Cult Communications, all three London agencies.
MFI and McCanns Prestbury has a relationship which goes back a long way. McCanns media agency Universal was one of the final two agencies pitching for MFI’s £26m media account just a couple of weeks ago and the new management team at MFI is led by Gary Favell who was previously Magnet’s chief executive. McCanns and Magnet enjoyed a successful eighteen year working relationship until this year. MFI's retail business was sold to private equity house MEP Partners in September 2006.
