Halewood International, the Huyton drinks producer and importer, has added McCann’s PR operation to its roster of agencies.
McCanns pitched against Brazen and Tangerine to win a new unspecified consumer product launch.
Halewood, established in 1978, employs over 1500 people at its base in Liverpool and internationally. It is best known as the company responsible for Lambrini and Red Square.
The company claims it is the UK’s largest independent alcoholic drinks manufacturer and distributor.
It is an acquisitive company buying the Crabbie’s brand from The Glenmorangie Company and internationally acquiring licences for a number of speciality drinks brands including Twistees, Mudshake, FX, Cruiser, Funky Monkey, Valeska and Purple Frog. These licence arrangement will cover Europe, South Africa and Mexico.
Richard Clark, marketing controller at Halewood International said: “We will be placing a significant amount of support behind this product launch and for that reason we needed an agency that has an excellent understanding of the FMCG sector. McCanns presented an outstanding strategic PR programme combined with a real understanding of the business and they will provide a perfect fit with the company and the brand.”
It is understood that Brazen PR’s work with Halewood’s other accounts is quite separate form this new business and will not be affected by McCanns addition to the agency roster.
