MediaVest and MediaVest Manchester win Barratt Developments media business
Following a review and subsequent competitive pitch, the media account for Barratt Developments has moved from Charterhouse and MediaCom North to MediaVest and MediaVest Manchester. Valuations of the business won range from £3m to £17m...

The appointment takes effect from autumn 2007.

It is believed that Barratt's marketing team in Newcastle was keen to consolidate its media business under one roof.

The account covers four brands: Barratt itself, David Wilson, Ward and Wilson Bowden. The latter two currently have a much smaller share of the media expenditure.

Two Manchester outfits are on Barratt’s agency roster – Charterhouse and MediaCom North.  Charterhouse works on the Barratt account and MediaCom North on David Wilson.

Ian Webb, Barratt's group brand director said: “Following the acquisition of Wilson Bowden, we undertook a review of media buying across the Group to ensure it was being delivered in the most efficient and effective way.

“MediaVest comprehensively demonstrated to us that it could handle both the detailed and regionally complex media requirements that go with the territory of promoting new home developments, along with our national requirements as we now enter an exciting period in our history.”

Dave Lucas, managing partner, MediaVest Manchester said: “We are really thrilled to be working with such a prestigious and substantial advertiser at such an interesting time of their development.”

Why can no companies in the North East actually give work to agencies in the region. With a recession on the horizon it would be nice if some of the big companies on Tyneside would show some loyalty to the area they are from.

It would be a lot cheaper too.
