MediaVest Manchester appears to be building on its recent recovery, with the announcement that it has picked up £4m of new business from Regatta and Select Property.
Jeal: remaining bullish The once all conquering media independent, still by far the biggest outside of London, has been hit by a series of well-publicised losses over the past few months that have shaken confidence in the £200m billing giant. The on-going crisis at Northern Rock, still one of the firm’s biggest clients, can hardly have helped lift moods. However, following on the back of a recent £6m of new accounts (including Greggs Bakeries) the firm has now netted the £2m brief from Regatta, mainly to help push its more ‘youth orientated’ Dare2b brand, and another £2m to build Select Properties online presence through MVi. The Select win may not have the brand cachet of Regatta, but it is an important one nonetheless as the firm is hugely ambitious (it was a finalist in the “Fastest Growth Business Awards 2007”) and, with a search based remit, follows on swiftly from the recent appointment of Jon Myers from Latitude. In an official release from MediaVest the firm was decidedly bullish in its outlook, claiming that it had recorded £50m of new business wins this year and had increased staff numbers by 14% from 168 to 191. However, it also noted that billings were ‘c£200m’ as opposed to the £221m the Sunday Times reported it turned over in its Top Track 250 that was released in October. Something to add?
