Emms joins from the Imperial War Museum North where she was press and marketing officer. Prior to the Museum, she was the PR for Aria Technology, a Manchester-based computer manufacturer.

It is the first time that MediaVest, established in 1994, has created a full time role for a PR. She will report to John Mathieson, a strategy directors and alongside Neil Henderson who is the agency’s marketing manager.

Mathieson said: “We are excited about the developments happening at MediaVest. We have had a good year and are looking forward to extending our success into 2008.”

In the summer, the agency celebrated the milestone of £200 million billings with a party for several hundred people at the Hilton in Manchester. The past couple of months have however proved more challenging for the agency as it lost c£30m of BJL insurance business and Next’s search and digital spend. Northern Rock is another major client.

The agency responded with the appointment of Jon Myers from Latitude as its new ‘head of search’ and picked up £6m of business from Greggs and Manchester Airport.
Staff numbers are reported to have risen over 2007 from 168 to 191.

Emms said: “I’m very excited about the position. MediaVest is a dynamic and
expanding agency with a lot to shout about. I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and really driving the agency profile and its success forward.”
