Midas extends tender deadline as PR agencies fight it out for all-encompassing brief | Print |  Email to a friend

Midas, the inward investment organisation for Manchester, has extended the tender deadline in its current search for a PR consultancy. However, interested parties will have to very, very quick to register their interest…

The organisation, which currently works with SKV PR, was originally hoping to appoint a PR agency by the first week of April.

However, an unforeseen delay in the process has seen the body push back the deadline for tender applications to 5pm today.

The brief, which industry insiders say has attracted considerable interest from some of the region’s biggest players, is a wide-ranging and crucially important one for the city – concentrating on the promotion of the Manchester region as a world-class business location.

The sheer scale of the task in hand may necessitate the appointment of several agencies, rather than one over-arching supplier, as Midas requires consultancy assistance across the board.

Some of the key areas covered in the tender document include; PR for the city region, nationally and internationally; PR for Midas as an agency, regionally, nationally and internationally; PR in key overseas markets, such as China, North America and India; and PR in the creative, media, digital and ICT communities, and for their associated media channels.

Observers have suggested that the daunting breadth of the brief may favour networked agencies – if Midas were to opt for a single supplier – rather than smaller, independent outfits.

The term of the contract is 12 months, with the option of a 12-month extension without re-pitching. The budget for the business has yet to be released.
