Richard Roycroft, agency sales director at MEN Media, has been elected as the new chairman of the marketing association the MPA.
He takes over from Mike Perls, chief executive of the PR firm MC2, who has held the role for the past two years.
The MPA said Roycroft will build on the progress made in the last two years, and work on future growth.
He said: “The association has had two years of stability with Mike Perls leading the senior team and it is vital that we now communicate the MPA vision clearly to potential and existing members. I’m looking forward to playing a part in achieving that goal.”
The former Manchester Publicity Association was rebranded and relaunched in 2010 led by managing director Cindy Simmons.
Since then it says membership has grown from around 600 to 1,500.
Simmons said: "Richard is a leading figure within the Manchester media industry and it is hugely important that this sector is represented at senior level on the MPA board, so we’re delighted Richard is taking the role of chairman.”
Six new board members have also been named. They are: Byron Evans (Wallop Video), Christian James (The If Agency), Paul Bason (Manchester Metropolitan University), Kate Towey (Magnetic North), Cherry Jackson (MEC Manchester) and Laoise Flanaghan (Deloitte). In addition, Vicky Owens of BBC Sport will also work with the board as an advisor.
