STEM Media, a new specialist science and technology PR agency which was established in June this year, has won the contract from the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) to handle the media relations for a major annual meeting of European pharmacologists.
The Federation of European Pharmacological Societies (EPHAR) 2008 Congress will see 1,200 leading medical scientists from academia and the pharmaceutical industry descend upon the new University Place building at The University of Manchester over the course of this week.
STEM is providing media liaison services on behalf of the BPS as well as on-site media handling during the conference.
STEM was founded by two former journalists turned scientific press offices at Manchester University: Alex Waddington and Aeron Haworth. Waddington said that the climate at Manchester University these days is totally supportive to entrepreneurs and that he believes there is a big gap in the market for an “intelligent and knowledgeable media relations service for companies and organisations involved in the fields of science, engineering, technology and medicine.”
