Next plc has appointed Mediaedge:cia in London to plan and buy the £10m budget it has allocated for a substantial increase in brand advertising.
As reported yesterday on How-Do, MediaVest Manchester which has handled the business for a number of years, was told on Monday that the new business would be moving from the agency.
Next has now confirmed the decision but has also confirmed MediaVest Manchester will retain the Next Directory account.
Next is under increasing pressure from a number of competitors including M&S, Primark and Gap, which have all eaten into what was previously primarily Next territory.
The company’s last official trading statement said sales in 2006 were down over 7%.
