Two North West agencies are bidding for MBNA’s pan-European consolidated business account.
It comes as media sources suggest that one of the front runners, ZenithOptimedia, has pulled out of the pitch. ZenithOptimedia currently operates the offline planning and buying account, but today they were unavailable to comment. MBNA A spokesman for MBNA said they were unable to talk about speculation, however, it’s believed that Cheshire-based Universal McCann and Mediaedge:cia from Manchester are among those bidding for the account.MBNA, which has its European headquarters in Chester, was bought by the Bank of America in 2005. As has previously been reported it is searching for an agency which could ultimately lead to the dropping of the MBNA brand in favour of Bank of America – which has already happened in the States.
