The NWDA is seeking to recruit a new PR team to perform an advocacy role for Tourism England’s Northwest (TEN) and help push the region as an ideal destination to an audience of ‘key influencers’, such as business leaders and parliamentarians.
The agency began the search for PR support last month and is expected to appoint a team to the task by the beginning of August. Although spearheaded by the development agency the role is actually specifically tailored to assist TEN - which is chaired by well known media personality Felicity Goodey - in its drive to make the region one of the most successful tourism destinations in the country. It will see the selected firm working on an initial six-month contract, for an as yet undisclosed fee, to provide recommendations for an advocacy programme through to the end of July 2009. This will include assisting TEN “in the identification of relevant and timely issues” and helping “shape key messages for dissemination to the most appropriate audiences.” Pitches are expected in the latter half of this month, with a six-agency shortlist to be drawn up ahead of presentations. The move marks a further swing for the NWDA towards supporting the region’s crucially important tourism sector – a gravitation that was said to have played a significant part in the body’s recent selection of its new panel of digital and online agencies. The NWDA is also currently in the process of redeveloping its industry-facing tourism website. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
