NWDA looks to Glorious for major business sector campaign | Print |  Email to a friend

It appears as if the North West Development Agency has opted to choose  Glorious Creative to spearhead a major new initiative to bring businesses into the region.

Glorious was one of five agencies from the North West that was selected in March to fulfil the NWDA’s design requirements over the next four years – the other firms being Mark Studio, Vivid, Hemisphere and Kaleidoscope.

Since then news of individual projects has been scant, but it now appears that several pitches have taken place over the course of the past few weeks, with this ‘new business’ brief being amongst the most coveted.

How-Do understands that at least four of the firms were in contention for the contract, which is believed to be worth a substantial six figure sum, with Glorious seemingly emerging as the victor.

A beautiful place for business
The agency itself would not be drawn on this when approached by How-Do, although one of the other protagonists confirmed that it was their understanding that Glorious had now been officially selected.

Due to both the agency’s and the NWDA’s reluctance to speak on the imminent campaign exact details are currently sketchy at best.

However, it seems like the initiative is an entirely new push from the RDA that will seek to address exterior perceptions of the region and improve them over the medium and long term.

The ultimate aim being to attract more new businesses in the North West and boost the regional economy.

The NWDA informed How-Do that it would release more details of the campaign when it is ready.

It seems that all local business websites can sleep easy. Just heard that The NWDAs attempt to skew the market with its website for small business, Outbox, has flopped and will never see the light of day.

Good for similar northwest businesses, but not great news for taxpayers in these choppy economic waters. Using crude calculations, the cash already spent on Outbox by the NWDA could fund

125 student nurse salaries
or
100 newly qualified teacher salaries

Whoever was in charge of this project at the NWDA should be named.

Is it feasible that the NWDA will lack any inertia over the summer as it waits to appoint its new chair?

Regarding Outbox, The very costly Outbox flop wasn’t all the NWDA’s fault.

They awarded the multimillion pound contract to a publishing agency from Bristol (ignoring
north west agencies!).

After the resulting mess, the Bristol agency just changed its name.

If there’s ANY false info in this post, I'd like to hear denials from the NWDA or the Bristol company.

The publishing company, Junction K, did mysteriously change name and identity after this complete Horlicks. The NWDA have actually done a great job of making this all disappear.

Junction K may not be the best agency in the world, but there were more factors involved in the Outbox business website not working than their incompetence or the NWDA.
