Short list announced for PRide Awards 2007 | Print |  Email to a friend

The short list for 2007 Pride Awards has been announced. The short list is dominated by agencies from Manchester and public sector bodies across the North West.

Over 200 entries were submitted in the North West out of a national total of just under 1500.

The awards will take place in Manchester on 28 November.

Although the spread of public sector agencies is encouraging, with yet another barn storming performance by the communications team at Stockport council, the lack of representation from agencies in Liverpool, Preston and elsewhere in the region was disappointing.

Of the five short listed overall ‘outstanding’ PR agencies, four are from Manchester while the fifth, McCanns in Prestbury, is part of the largest communications agency outside London.

Three agencies from outside Manchester/Liverpool did make the smaller consultancy short list however: Osprey (Windermere), Catapult (Blackpool) and MTJ Associates (Preston).

A new name in the awards line-up this year is the Sale public sector communications agency, IPB, which has decided to dip its toes into the world of awards after five years trading.

Founder Tony Ingham told How-Do that: “We are really pleased. We felt that it was time to start shouting about ourselves a bit more.”

Sandy Lindsay, founder of Tangerine PR which has opened a London office and new launched new divisions this year, said: "We've always put a lot of effort into running an ethical, professional and profitable business and it's good that these efforts have been recognised."

SKV and Brazen made up the final two agencies short listed as ‘outstanding’ with both agencies also leading the pack in terms of the highest number of short listed entries this year.

It's great to see some new names on the awards shortlist this year - both agency and in house. While the competition to win a coveted award is getting harder year on year, both the volume and the spread of quality entries shows the rest of the country just how much PR talent the North West can boast. This can only help us all in growing our businesses by attracting both high flying staff and major clients. It looks like 28 Nov will be a great night for more people than ever, I for one can’t wait.
