SLAM wins nutrition drinks that powered Sport Relief stars |

The Manchester office of SLAM PR has won a year-long contract with sports nutrition company Science in Sport – the firm that recently provided energy products for Alan Shearer, Adrian Chiles, James Cracknell and David Walliams in their Sport Relief challenges.
Science in Sport, or SIS, is based in Blackburn and employs a mixture of top athletes, physicians and food technologists to produce drinks, foods and supplements that help sportspeople to compete to the best of their ability.  Cracknell gets help from SIS As well as its support of Sport Relief, the family owned firm also partners sporting bodies such as British Cycling and has one of its products, Go Gel (the world’s first isotonic gel), endorsed by adventurer, explorer and all round man of steel Sir Ranulph Fiennes.SLAM will be looking to raise awareness of SIS and its portfolio of products on a national level, as well as providing ongoing event support. Agency director Ric Coggins said: “This is an exciting time for Science in Sport as it is looking to build on its credibility within cycling and running markets by demonstrating its competitive streak with more mainstream sports such as football and rugby. “Naturally the team is thrilled to be working with such a great brand and we’re looking forward to delivering a significant up lift in media coverage, brand awareness and ultimately sales.” SLAM, which launched its northern office last year, is a division of Weber Shandwick PR.
