Stockport-based PR and creative agency Stan has been entrusted by ESL, the UK’s first commercial producer of biodiesel, to help manage its reputation in the face of growing concern about the biofuels phenomenon.
Biofuel, once hailed as the future of energy production, has come in for mounting criticism of late over its perceived role in the increase of global food prices and the damage that can be caused to natural environments when land is cleared to grow products such as palm oil. However, ESL, which has been producing biofuel for almost ten years, claims to use only ‘genuinely sustainable raw materials’ in its production processes and is intent to market its products as ‘good biofuels’. Stan is faced with inculcating these messages to a business and general consumer audience and has also produced ESL’s new website to help communicate key messages. Agency PR director Andrew Crosbie commented: "The biofuel industry has experienced something of a backlash in recent months and it has been important for ESL to maintain the positive message that 'good' biofuel continues to deliver very sound environmental benefits. “Having re-launched with a new website, we're now working with the client on a combination of traditional PR and digital marketing techniques to reinforce that position." http://www.stanatwork.co.uk/
