There’s a public relations crisis looming in Stoke, according to the Staffordshire Sentinel , which has got its hands on a leaked letter from elected mayor Mark Meredith.
It was sent to the council manager Steve Robinson and accuses communications’ chief Dan Barton of "sabotaging" Meredith’s efforts to run the city. Meredith It goes on to list 27 occasions when he or his department have allegedly "fallen below Mr Meredith’s expectations." That includes one example when apparently Meredith met a reporter and wasn’t aware that two primary schools were facing closure. Barton, an ex-ITV head of news , has been backed by Robinson and several other councillors who’ve all distanced themselves from the unsigned letter. Meredith himself has said it was a confidential letter, but he still had concerns. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
