TBWA\Manchester has confirmed to How-Do that it is indeed entering into discussions with an undisclosed number of staff about possible redundancies.
The agency has seen the departure of some high-profile senior figures this year including executive creative director Richard Sharp and creative director Mick Foden.
McCallum Fergus McCallum, chief executive of the agency told How-Do that: “Regretfully we are currently in consultation over the possible redundancy of a small number of roles within the agency. Unfortunately we are not immune to the financial pressures that surround the economy at present and the downward trend in marketing budgets.
“We continue to be successful in spreading our business base and in addition we have already proactively put in place a number of initiatives designed to protect jobs in the agency. Both of these factors have helped us lessen the impact for our employees and we will continue to do everything we can to minimise the number of people affected.”
It is believed that the overall level of redundancies in London’s ad agencies this year has been around 5% of staff numbers. It is difficult to access numbers in the North West but agency chiefs believe that the region has suffered a lower rate of attrition overall – to date. Something to add?
