TBWA\Manchester has revealed that it won’t be pitching for the ghd account, which it’s held for more than 2 years.
It comes as How-Do discovered that ghd is to review its brand account.
In January, the hair styling company brought in Guy Longworth as global brand director. Back then we were told that it wouldn’t have any affect on TBWA’s role.
Today CEO, Fergus McCallum told How-Do in a statement:
McCallum
"I can confirm that we won't be re-pitching for the ghd business, but will continue to support their requirements over the next few months as they look for new agency partners.”
The agency has worked on several high profile campaigns for ghd, not least 2 television ads - although one did get banned.
TBWA stressed that the decision was a case of “moving forward” as a business:
“The team that has worked on ghd over the past two and a half years have developed some fantastic work and I am immensely proud of their efforts over this period," continued McCallum.
"We wish everyone at ghd continuing future success; but we move on - and we have already started the process of talking to potential new clients in the sector.”
This afternoon a spokesperson from ghd said:
“Following a strategic review ghd has decided to pitch its main advertising business. ghd would like to thank the whole team at TBWA\Manchester for their hard work during the last 2 years.
"The pitch process is now underway and a new agency appointment is anticipated by the end of June.”
