The Conservative Party has brought in Suffolk design agency Spring to market and brand their Manchester conference and retail area.
The retail zone will be entitled North Parade, which Thatcher-watchers will know was the address of her dad’s grocer’s shop in Grantham.
"It’s a huge departure from anything the other parties have done at Conference. We are working with the Conservatives to enhance their brand values when marketing the retail space," explained Spring’s boss Erika Clegg.
The conference at Manchester Central will see up to 50 retailers appearing in the North Parade zone, alongside the other 125 exhibitors.
Sounding more like a health spa, the "hub of the hall will include a GWB (General Well Being) relaxation and hospitality zone." Presumably what old Labour would have called a "pub wi' chairs."
Spring will also be producing branded sales promotion materials including a message from Tory leader David Cameron:
"Next year we’re in another great city with the same qualities – Manchester. It’s a first for us - the first time for a century we’ve held our annual conference in Manchester. Whether you are a sponsor, an organiser, or an exhibitor, you’re part of what makes the conference a great success."

Possibly a bit of "who you know" is going on.
One wonders how much Markeketing Labour sorry Marketing Manchester will spend on this conference. I was told their stand at Tory conference in Birmingham was embarassing for Manchester.
