Design agency True North has been commissioned by the Royal Mail to design two sets of first day cover stamps and has also been awarded the design creation and visual management for the Turner Prize 2007.
The agency won its first work from the Royal Mail last year when it won a contract to design the first day presentation stamp pack for the World Cup. It pitched against two existing London agencies on the Royal Mail roster. It subsequently also won a project to create the presentation pack for a Bobby Moore commemorative medal pack that was co-produced by the Royal Mail and the Royal Mint.
Last autumn, the agency was one of three asked to scope up some ideas for the design of some specific first day covers for 2007. It was successful and work started early this year. In March, the agency was awarded a second contract to design a further set of stamps for 2007.Separately, the agency has won the contract to create the visual identities and the design and advertising relating for the Turner Prize 2007. The work was won in competition with other design consultancies on the Turner Prize's roster of agencies.
In 2006, True North produced the Turner Prize’s last bi-annual Review for 2004/6. The previous Review was designed by Pentagram.
True North was established in Manchester in 2001 and employs 13 staff. In December 2006, Design Week magazine ranked the agency sixth nationally in its annual creative survey. Something to add? Then leave a comment below or email us now.
