Liverpool PR consultancy, Mason Media, has recruited five new staff after winning a clutch of new clients.
The agency, founded by former journalist Nick Mason, markets itself as an agency which employs a far greater proportion of journalists than is typically found in PR agencies, in the regions or in London.
Joining the agency’s Liverpool office as media consultants are journalists Emma Gunby and Will Thorne and Liverpool University student Laura Woods joins as a graduate trainee.
Daily Post business reporter Sophie Freeman is joining Mason Media’s new London office in Covent Garden.
Martyn Smith In a move signalling the agency’s intention to raise its profile, Martyn Smith has joined as head of professional services from law firm Brabners Chaffe Street, where he ran the marketing and business development team. This is an unusual development as senior agency staff tend to move into – not out of - professional services where the salaries are generally substantially higher.
Mason Media has won a number of new clients the UK Intellectual Property Office (formerly the Patent Office) and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Nick Mason said: “The appointment of Martyn Smith is about continuing to grow the volume of work we do with firms in the professional services sector, locally and nationally.
“We are also winning a lot of new work in the food and beverage and property sectors and with some of the city’s fast growth entrepreneurs.”
