The NWFA, created by How-Do and Out There Events, welcomed 500 of the region’s key movers and shakers to its first gala evening last November, raising £25,000 for the New Children’s Hospital Appeal in the process.

The evening saw a host of clubs, such as Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers, walk off with some of the gongs, watched by an audience that included Phil Neville, Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson.

This year the team at Vertigo is hoping to recreate the buzz generated for the first outing by targeting social networking sites and official and unofficial fan sites, as well as achieving coverage through more mainstream  national and regional media channels.

Abby Wright, group head at Vertigo PR, said: “The success of the awards last year demonstrated the passion we have for football in the North West, and it’s great to be working with the team again.”
