Weber Shandwick’s food group picks up Dietary Specials account | Print |  Email to a friend
Wednesday, 13 June 2007
Warrington wheat and gluten free food producer and distributor, Dietary Specials, now owned by the Dr Schar group, has appointed the Manchester office of Weber Shandwick to handle the PR for its Dietary Specials and Trufree brands in the UK.

The company was set up by Chris Hook in 1998 who was frustrated by the lack of choice and the absence of flavour in most foods produced for those with a wheat intolerance.

In 2002 the company was acquired by the European food group Dr Schar which resulted in the UK company acquiring additional distribution deals for other Dr Schar products including Trufree.

The agency has been tasked with raising brand awareness among both retail and consumer audiences.

Brand manager Geoff Phillips added “Our business continues to grow rapidly in the UK and we are looking for support in communicating our successes.”
