All About Manchester celebrates new partnerships and 25th issue | Print |  Email to a friend

Independent tourist focussed what’s on guide, All About Manchester, has tied up commercial deals with both Marketing Manchester and Manchester City Council.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 6 June, Selini Publishing is celebrating both issue 25 of the title and the launch of its web site – http://www.allaboutmanchestermanchester.com

The company was formed by Evie Lucas and Kim Brown in 2004. Brown was previously in sales while Lucas is a journalist whose previous job was as editor of housing titles with Excel Publishing in Manchester.

Issue one was published in February 2005.

The magazine is published 10 times a year in a handbook guide size (think Guardian what’s on supplement size) and is typically 48 pages.

Lucas claims that 13,000 copies of each issue are printed and distributed and occasionally, to co-incide with major events, up to 4,000 additional copies are distributed some months.

The magazines are placed in a number of bedrooms at mid and upmarket hotels in Manchester including the Radisson and Midland and are also available at tourist information centres and at a variety of museums, theatres and galleries across Greater Manchester.

Last year, the city council events department approached the publisher to see if they’d be interested in exploring a deal that offered the title increased distribution in return for enhanced publicity and coverage of the city’s events. The city council has committed to series advertising in the title. And this April, promotional body Marketing Manchester came alongside by committing itself to regular sponsorship of the magazine.

Editor Lucas said the new web site will include “all the magazine has to offer and much more including property, going out, events and listings.”

It will be competing with the recently launched Greater Manchester Theatre Guide published by John Good and, should it materialise, Time Out Manchester.
