The MEN is to add an extra page to its daily business section from Monday and has moved Ben Rooth across to support the business desk.
The paper currently runs two pages of business a day rising to 16 or 24 pages for the weekly supplement on Tuesdays.
The move is in response to the launch of Crain’s Manchester on Monday 17 December. How-Do understands that there are likely to be further developments relating to the MEN’s business coverage as it contends with the new amply funded kid on the block.
Deputy business editor Kevin Feddy didn’t wish to make a comment when contacted by How-Do.
Rooth was previously a reporter specialising in green and environmental affairs.
Dave Smith, public relations manager at the Co-operative Group told How-Do he welcomed the news as: “Business is such an important part of the region’s life and any increase in coverage has got to be good.”
