Andy Bounds to be the FT’s next Northern correspondent |

Andy Bounds, currently the pink ‘un’s EU correspondent in Brussels will be the paper’s new Northern correspondent based in Manchester as from July.
 Bounds He replaces James Wilson who moved to the Frankfurt bureau in March.
There were rumours circulating in the region that the paper’s UK business editor John Willman was relocating north but these have now been scotched.
Bounds, 37, is a graduate of Leeds where he studied International History and Politics. Following University he gained a GNVQ in journalism and began his career as a reporter for the Kent Messenger newspaper group in 1995. His reporting duties he said covered “crime, golden wedding anniversaries and escaped bulls.”
He joined the FT in 1997 as a sub before becoming Central America correspondent based in Panama City covering Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Belize.
In 2002 he moved back to the UK to edit the Observer diary column in London and then subsequently took up the same role for the European edition based in Brussels.
In 2006 he became EU correspondent for trade, agriculture, transport, the environment, health, consumer protection… and also covered the European parliament.
