Chris Barry, the editor of recently launched business news portal TheBusinessDesk.com, has told How-Do that he is relishing his new position, while claiming that the site itself is growing ahead of expectations.

Chris Barry, the editor of recently launched business news portal TheBusinessDesk.com, has told How-Do that he is relishing his new position, while claiming that the site itself is growing ahead of expectations.
TBD on Cloud 23
Speaking to How-Do the morning after the site’s official launch party at the Hilton’s Cloud 23 bar in Manchester, Barry said that he was “very pleased” with the business community’s reaction to the new offering.

“It’s very heartening to see the uptake is user figures,” Barry said, going on to reveal that the North West edition of TheBusinessDesk now has 3,000 subscribers receiving the daily email bulletins.

This has been achieved, he added, in less than three months, while the trailblazing Yorkshire version has taken a year to attract 10,000.

Speaking of his own position he said that he was “completely bedded in”, but had noticed significant differences between his new role and his previous position at the MEN.

The editorial team
“Obviously it’s been a major cultural change,” he said, “coming from a large corporation to a much smaller outfit like this.

“But I have to say that, from my experience so far, small is very much beautiful.”

TheBusinessDesk’s party on Tuesday night attracted more than 100 “leading professionals” to celebrate its launch and the completion of the editorial team.

Barry said that the event had been used as “a statement of intent” to show the community that the outfit was “here and here to stay.”
