Bury’s Big Spark publishing has revealed to How-Do that it has just completed the high profile signing of former Daily Sport editor Dave Beevers.

Beevers was with the Sport for 16 years, spending the last eight in the position of editor, but left the publication in February as part of the on-going shake-up at the Sport Media Group’s titles.

He will now join Big Spark in the role of head of editorial, charged with strengthening the publisher’s current team both on and off line.

The move comes at a time of rapid expansion for the firm, which hit How-Do headlines twice last week with the launch of eco-you and the acquisition of several new contracts to publish airport passenger magazines.

MD Stuart Parker said of Beevers’ arrival: “We are very pleased to have secured Dave.

“He came highly recommended and his experience will add that extra edge to our growing list of titles'.

In another recruitment move at Big Spark, Andy Foster has been signed up from Newsquest as the firm’s new key account manager.

Foster’s role will be closely aligned to Parker’s, with the remit of nurturing Big Spark’s client base and fostering new publishing opportunities.

Parker added that Foster would be assisting him with the “day to day running of the business” and “will specifically develop our growing northern airport titles.”
